Coal inventory at 371 power plants with direct supply through railways in China was able to meet more than 37 days of power generation based on the current daily consumption as of end-September, according to the official Wechat account of China State Railway Group (China Railway).
The company shipped a total 1.14 billion tonnes of power coal during January-September, while total rail-delivered cargo shipments reached 2.90 billion tonnes, with an average daily loading of 176,600 wagons.
China Railway has effectively utilized major freight transportation rates such as Daqin, Tangbao, Wara, and Haoji railways, improving shipping capacity and efficiency.
Over the first three quarters this year, the average daily loading of major port rail lines nationwide was 31,500 wagons, a year-on-year increase of 5.8%; the average daily ore loading was 28,100 trucks, a 2.2% rise.
From January to September, a total of 13,000 China-Europe freight trains were operated, transporting 1.42 million standard containers, a year-on-year increase of 7% and 20% respectively.
Cargo shipments through the rail-sea intermodal train trip running along the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor amounted to 633,000 standard containers, up 14.2% on the year. The China-Laos Railway shipped a total of 3.55 million tonnes of cross-border goods, surging 143%.
China Railway will continue making efforts to ensure power coal supply for the upcoming peak winter season demand for heating.
