Data from China’s National Bureau of Statistics show that from January to October 2023, national coke, crude steel, pig iron and steel production continued to show year-on-year growth.
Specifically:
- The national coke output was 410.01 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.9%. Coke production in October was 41.54 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 5.8% and a month-on-month increase of 0.2%. Based on this calculation, the average daily coke production in October was 1.34 million tons, a month-on-month decrease of 3.0%.
- The country’s crude steel output was 874.7 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 1.4%. The output in October was 79.09 million tons, down 1.8% year-on-year and 3.7% month-on-month; the average daily output in October was 2.55 million tons, down 6.8% month-on-month.
- The national pig iron output was 744.75 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.3%. The output in October was 69.19 million tons, down 2.8% year-on-year and 3.3% month-on-month; the average daily output in October was 2.23 million tons, down 6.4% month-on-month.
- The national steel output was 1.14418 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 5.7%. Production in October was 113.71 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 3.0% and a month-on-month decrease of 3.5%; the average daily output was 3.67 million tons, a month-on-month decrease of 6.6%.
